AMBASSADORS - Unconsolable
“Unconsolable” is one of those tracks that you can listen to over and over again as I’ve been doing since I heard it for the first time last night. I love the deliberate drum and horn section that keep the song moving and building throughout the track. Although neither are intricate sometimes the simplest form is best. Their lead singer Sam Harris has a strong powerful voice full of emotion reminiscent of Sting during his days in The Police. Along with that is the quartets pop sensibility and strong harmonies. They seem to have the full package.
Although they hail from Brooklyn I haven’t seen them around those parts much. From what I hear they have been busy touring in Europe and working on their first LP which should be out sometime this year. They also have a very creative set of R&B covers on their SoundCloud page which you should definitely have a go at. If their LP sounds anything like their self titled EP release from 2010 then I think these guys have a bright future ahead of them.
